Personnel Matters

You can discuss detail and any concerns about Pay, Sickness, Holiday and Pension with your manager or the administrator.

You will have been advised about salary and working hours in your offer letter.

You can take time off work if you’re ill. You need to give your manager proof if you’re ill for more than 7 days. If you’re ill just before or during your holiday, you can take it as sick leave instead.

Please ensure that you update the diary in AdvicePro to show which days you are unable to work due to ill health

You must give your manager a ‘fit note’ (sometimes called a ‘sick note’) if you have been ill for more than 7 days in a row and have taken sick leave. This includes non-working days, such as weekends and bank holidays.

The fit note will say that you are either ‘not fit for work’ or ‘may be fit for work’.

If it says you ‘may be fit for work’, your manager will discuss any changes that might help youreturn to work (for example, different hours or tasks). You will be treated as ‘not fit for work’ if there’s no agreement on these changes.

Paid staff are legally entitled to 5.6 weeks’ paid holiday a year (known as statutory leave entitlement or annual leave).

If you work part-time on a regular basis for the whole year you are entitled to at least 5.6 weeks’ paid holiday, but this will amount to fewer than 28 days. For example, if you work 3 days a week, you will get at least 16.8 days’ leave a year (3 × 5.6).

The administrator will issue you with a holiday sheet to record your holiday, please ensure that all holiday is authorised by your manager. Please also ensure that you enter your holiday in the diary on AdvicePro.

You will be automatically enrolled into the People’s Pension, (a pension scheme) and Ashford Advice will make contributions to your pension if all of the following apply:

You and Ashford Advice must pay a percentage of your earnings into your workplace pension scheme.

How much you pay and what counts as earnings depend on the pension scheme rules. Ask your manager about your pension scheme rules. From April 2019 you will be expected to contribute 5% from you salary and Ashford Advice will contribute 3%.
