You can use the N245 form to ask the court to change the amount you must pay to a person or business you owe money to, or to suspend a warrant issued by a court.
There is a fee of £15.00 payable when you file your claim, if you are on a low income or in receipt of benefits you may be eligible for fee remission see https://www.gov.uk/get-help-with-court-fees
Complete the box in top right hand corner and fill in details of:
- Your income
- Living costs
- Debts
- An offer of payment
Explain what you can afford to pay based on:
- Your household income (section 6),
- Your household spending (section 7)
- Debts (sections 8-10)
- How much you can afford to pay (section 11)
The court will send the form to the creditor to see if they agree with the new amount.
The court decides a fair payment if they do not agree. This is usually done without a hearing.
The court writes to you with details of the new payment amount. Keep up with the new payments if you agree.
