If you are in debt, it can be overwhelming, but you need to take action quickly to stop the situation getting any worse.

We can negotiate a reduced payment plan with your creditors.
If you are on low income and unable to pay your debts, we can assist you in applying for Debt Relief Order (DRO) to write off your debts. This is subject to eligibility criteria.
There is no charge to apply for a DRO
To apply for a DRO, you must:
- Live in England, Wales or Northern Ireland
- Owe less than £50,000
- Have less than £2,000 in assets and a car worth no more than £4,000
- Have less than £75 in surplus income per month after paying your household bills and living costs
Ashford Advice are registered intermediaries for debt relief orders. Subject to meeting the eligibility criteria you will be offered face to face advice, and we will submit your application without any fees
What to bring to your meeting
To help our advisors give you the best possible guidance please ensure you bring the following to your meeting:
- Wage slips,
- Benefit statements,
- Pension income statements,
- Last 3 months Bank statements,
- Utility bills such as gas, electricity and water.
- Council Tax Bill
- Tenancy agreement or details of rent payable
- Mortgage Statement (if applicable)
We will also need
- your latest letters/statements from your creditors;
- details of your addresses for the past 6 years
- your free statutory credit report from a credit reference agency.

How to obtain your statutory credit report
There are three main credit reference agencies that hold information about you, they are obliged to offer a free statutory report if you ask for it, click on the links below to obtain your report.
