If you are unemployed and have paid sufficient class 1 National Insurance contributions you may qualify for contribution-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (cJSA). If you are a Universal Credit claimant this contributory benefit is known as ‘new-style Jobseeker’s Allowance’.
